Guns Magazine Review

David Codrea has given Neal Knox - The Gun Rights War a very nice review in his Guns magazine column.  The print edition will hit the stands this month, but you can read it hereHe also gave a nice notice in his Examiner.com column where he holds forth as the National Gun Rights Examiner.  I always enjoy David's writing.  He's a hardliner among hardliners and I generally trust his judgment.  That's why I'm so flattered with the high praise he offers the book.  Once again, a reviewer has written copy that I'd be embarrassed to write myself even though I'm promoting the book.  I'm pleased with the quality of the product, but positive review from a guy like David means something -- he's not shy to call out a miss.

The Belgian Corporal

We publicized the Prologue to the book on the Internet and in our newsletter during the run-up to the book's release.  Dad often told this story after dinner, but he rarely told it in public.  The reason was that he did not feel he could adequately substantiate the story.  Neal Knox was trained as a reporter and he did not feel comfortable reporting allegations that he could not verify as factual.  The story got a fair amount of viral circulation (thank you, and feel free to continue circulating it).

Some of the discussion that bubbled up from the story being circulated resulted in my finding some resources in Belgium that may help me get to the facts behind the story. Dad wanted to get to the bottom of the story and I'm hoping that I'll be able to complete the work.

But one aspect of this story is irrefutable:  That is the effect that the story had on a young (just turned 19) Neal Knox.  He heard it first-hand from an eye-witness and for him, it had the ring of truth.  He saw the tears and heard the quiver in the voice.  He believed this story in his core and it put him on the course that led him to his life's work.

Praise for Neal Knox -- The Gun Rights War

Clicking through http://www.realguns.com/ it's apparent that editor Joe D'Alessandro is a fair-minded reviewer.  His criticisms are straightforward but gently worded, and his praise is not overblown.  He gives five-star reviews, but his review subjects earn the praise.  That's why I'm so proud of this review at RealGuns.com.  "[A]lways insightful, very precisely written, and colorful and interesting in presentation."

Wow!  I'm promoting the book and I would have been embarrassed to write that.  But I'll take it!  Thank you Joe.

Gun Week reviews!

"...some of the most valuable and important writing related to the right to keep and bear over a 40-year period"

http://www.gunweek.com/2009/hs100109.html

Joe Tartaro gave Neal Knox — The Gun Rights War a very nice review in the current issue of Gun Week. I saw the review at last week's Gun Rights Policy Conference and was getting ready to transcribe it here when I found that Joe had kindly posted it online.

"Many, including some gunowners who have recently become active in the long-running debate over guns laws and gun rights, often believe that legislative and regulatory assaults on handguns, gun shows, certain types of ammunition, waiting periods and even so-called assault weapons are relatively new phenomenon," observes Joe.  "Nothing could be further from the truth, as you will learn in reading and owning Neal Knox: The Gun Rights War, a collection of some of the most valuable and important writing related to the right to keep and bear over a 40-year period."

"Neal Knox studied history as well as making it and you’ll find this book of his writings your single most important history lesson on gun rights."

Thanks for the review Joe!
